Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Agora, explained simply
Getting Started
What is Agora?
Agora is a platform where creators can launch their own Fan Points — like taking their personal brand public on the stock market — and fans can invest in the creators they believe in. Think of it as an IPO for creators.
Do I need to know anything about crypto to use Agora?
Not at all. We designed Agora so that anyone can use it. You set your spending preferences in USD (dollars), and we handle all the technical stuff behind the scenes. Think of it like online banking — you don't need to understand how wire transfers work to send money.
How do I sign up?
Create an account with your email, verify it, and you're in. We automatically set up a secure wallet for you — no extra steps needed.
Wallet & Funding
What is a wallet?
Your wallet is like a digital bank account. It holds your SOL (the currency used on Agora) and all the Fan Points you've purchased. When you sign up, we create one for you automatically.
What is SOL?
SOL is the digital currency that powers Agora, similar to how dollars power your bank account. You need SOL to buy Fan Points.
How do I get SOL?
You buy SOL from an exchange like Coinbase or Kraken (think of them like currency exchange kiosks at an airport), then send it to your wallet address (public key). You can find your wallet address on the Wallet Management page in Settings.
What is a wallet address (public key)?
Your wallet address — also called your public key — is like your bank account number. It's a long string of letters and numbers that people use to send SOL to you. It's completely safe to share — no one can take money out of your wallet using just this address. You can find it on the Wallet Management page in Settings.
What is a private key?
Your private key is like the PIN or password to your bank vault. It's a secret code that gives full access to your wallet. Never share it with anyone. We store yours securely and encrypted. You can view and export it from the Wallet Management page in Settings.
Why is it so important to save my private key?
This is the single most important thing you can do on Agora. Your private key is the only way to access your wallet if you ever lose your password or lose access to your account. Think of it like a master key to a safe deposit box — if you lose it, no one (not even us) can open it for you.
As soon as you sign up, go to Settings > Wallet Management, copy your private key, and store it somewhere safe — a password manager, a printed note in a secure place, or both. If you lose your password and don't have your private key saved, your funds cannot be recovered.
Fan Points & Trading
What are Fan Points?
Fan Points are like shares in a creator's personal brand. Each creator has their own unique Fan Points. When you buy them, you're investing in that creator's success.
How do I buy Fan Points?
Hit the Like button on any creator's content or directly on their profile card. Each like purchases Fan Points using SOL from your wallet. You can set how much each like costs in Settings (in familiar USD amounts — we convert it to SOL automatically).
How does the price work?
It works like a stock: the more people buying a creator's Fan Points, the higher the price goes. The fewer people buying (or more selling), the lower it goes. It's supply and demand, just like the stock market.
What is a "Drop"?
A Drop is the opposite of a Like — it's how you sell Fan Points. When you drop, you're selling your Fan Points back and receiving SOL in return.
For Creators
How do I launch my Fan Points?
Think of it as taking your personal brand to IPO. You pay a one-time $20 launch fee, choose a name and symbol for your Fan Points, and they're live. Your fans can start investing in you immediately.
What is the initial buy amount when I launch?
When you launch your Fan Points, you make a small initial purchase of your own Fan Points (minimum $1 worth of SOL). This isn't an extra cost — it's your first investment in your own stock. Just like a company founder holds shares in their own company, you're buying the first Fan Points of your brand. Those Fan Points are yours, they sit in your wallet, and they grow in value as fans invest in you.
Do I need to hold my Fan Points after launching?
We strongly encourage creators to hold their Fan Points for at least 3 months after launch. This shows your community that you're committed to building long-term value — similar to how company founders typically hold their shares after an IPO.
What are achievement tiers?
As your Fan Points grow in value, you unlock achievement titles — from "Sputnik" to "Galactic." Think of them as milestones, like a company moving from startup to Fortune 500. They're visible to everyone on your profile.
Fees & Costs
What fees does Agora charge?
We charge a 1% fee on purchases only. When you sell, there's no Agora fee. There are also small blockchain network fees (fractions of a penny) and exchange service fees.
What does it cost to launch Fan Points as a creator?
A one-time $20 fee, plus a small initial purchase of your own Fan Points (minimum $1). Think of it as your initial investment in your own IPO.
Safety & Security
Is my money safe?
Your wallet is secured with encryption, and all transactions happen on the Solana blockchain — a public ledger that records every transaction permanently. Think of it like a bank vault with a public receipt book.
Can I withdraw my money?
Yes. You can sell your Fan Points at any time to get SOL back into your Agora wallet. To move that SOL off the platform, go to Settings > Wallet Management, copy your private key, and import it into a wallet app like Phantom. From there, you can send your SOL to an exchange like Coinbase and convert it to dollars — or send it wherever you want.
What if I lose access to my account?
You can reset your password via email. However, if you lose your password, you also lose access to your wallet — because your wallet's private key is encrypted with your password. The only safety net is your saved private key. If you've saved it (as we strongly recommend), you can import it into a wallet app like Phantom and access your funds independently of Agora.
Bottom line: Save your private key. It's the only backup that matters.
